Cover of the month: Joseph Vincent sings « Dive » of Ed Sheeran

Let me introduce you to the talented Joseph Vincent — if you don’t know him already, of course 😉 with his cover of Ed Sheeran song ‘Dive’

Who’s Joseph Vincent?

Joseph Vincent is an american singer & songwriter. He’s born on 15th August 1989 in Los Angeles, California. He is of Filipino descent.

At the age of 15, he picked up his first guitar and started playing covers of two of his favourite artists, Jack Johnson & Jason Mraz. It motivated him to create his own music and that’s what he did. He started writing original songs at the age of 16.

Joseph’s debut in the music industry

In mid 2008, he started uploading covers on YouTube. He currently has over 620.000 subscribers and 120.000.000 views.

In August 2008, he performed at the Annual Festival of Philippine Arts & Culture. Less than a year later, he took part in a contest, Kababayan Superstar, that he won. He also has been named « YouTube Artist of the Year 2009 » by Star Central Magazine in Australia and featured twice on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2010.

End of 2010, he signed a record deal with Catch Adventures and released his debut album, Blue Skies in 2012.

His first album contains 11 songs all written and composed by himself. Three songs were released as singles: If You Stay, Bumble Bee and S.A.D.

Joseph is best known in the US but he is becoming internationally popular: he performed sold-out shows in Singapore, Australia and Canada.

Since then, Joseph released other songs such as All I Wanted, Stardust, Be There & Our First Song.

In May 2017, he released an EP, Here’s 2 You, and a first single called Memory.

What do I say about him?

He has skills, he has talent but I noticed that — just like Leroy Sanchez — his original songs are not getting as much attention as his covers. It shouldn’t happen.

He has to affirm his identity as an original artist. Otherwise, he will only be considered as a YouTuber who makes good covers. It doesn’t mean he can’t make covers, of course, he can. But I feel like Joseph lacks confidence when performing his own songs.

Doubts are natural but shouldn’t be an obstacle to make your dreams come true. You have to take risks at some points. Some people will love your music, some don’t. You will make mistakes and that’s ok. This is how you grow and become the artist you truly are.

Don’t ever give up. Do what you love. Do what makes you happy.

I hope Joseph will affirm his creative identity that will help him set himself apart and build a successful and sustainable career in Music.

I invite you to watch more videos on his YouTube Channel. You can also follow him on social medias: Instagram, Twitter & Facebook.
